WHAT DOES IT MEANT TO BE IN NDT’S PRE-PROFESSIONAL COMPANY PROGRAM?

Nunnbetter Dance Theatre is committed to providing our students with the finest instruction in ballet and all other forms of dance. We believe that the discipline, rigor and commitment of dance not only helps to create beautiful and talented dancers, but also strong, confident and exceptional people.

NDT’s Pre-Professional Company Program is designed for NDT’s Ballet 6, Intermediate and Advanced students who want to take their dance experience to the next level and who are ready to commit to and focus on their overall training. 

NDT’s Pre-Professional Company Program is a year-long commitment to help students take their training and performance opportunities to the next level. Dancers who audition to be in company in the fall commitment to the program for the entire year. Only those dancers in the NDT Company will be considered for a leading roles in the Nutcracker. This is why participation in just the Nutcracker or just Spring Concert is not allowed. Additionally, students who are part of the NDT Company will be given the opportunity to participate at the Annual YAGP Competition.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ENROLLING IN NDT’S PRE-PROFESSIONAL COMPANY PROGRAM?

Dancers who audition and are accepted into NDT’s Pre-Professional Company Program will:

  • Be considered for principal and soloist parts in the NDT Nutcracker production.

  • Be cast in the NDT’s Spring Concert where they will be cast in numerous pieces and have performance opportunities.

  • Be eligible to audition and be considered for casting in NDT’s ensemble pieces for the YAGP* competition. (*Additional expense)

  • Have the opportunity to enter the YAGP soloist competition under the NDT studio name. (all soloists MUST be enrolled in either Modern or Contemporary in order to enter the Contemporary division at YAGP)

  • Have complimentary access to Master Classes offered by the NDT Company during the school year.

  • Be given a pre-sale discount ticket offer (limited time) to NDT’s Nutcracker and Spring Concert production.

  • Be given an NDT Pre-Professional Company Program apparel.

  • Invited to attend NDT field trips and experiences.

  • May be asked to represent NDT at events and do promotional appearances prior to the Nutcracker weekend and at other times throughout the year.

  • Benefit from over 50 hours of training and rehearsal above and beyond regular classes, continuing their dance education.

  • Benefit from taking part in professional performance opportunities.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE NDT’S PRE-PROFESSIONAL COMPANY PROGRAM?

Requirement for acceptance and participation are:

Dancers must be enrolled at the Ballet 6, Intermediate, Advanced Ballet program at NDT and audition for the Pre-Professional Company Program.( auditions are in early fall)*

For Ballet 6 Students: A commitment to a full course load of 5 classes per week, to include:

  • A mandatory minimum of 4 Ballet classes ( to include the Ballet 6 pointe class)

  • A minimum of one additional class in ballet of any other dance genre per week

For Intermediate students: A commitment to a full course load of classes (6), to include:

  • A mandatory minimum of 4 Intermediate Ballet classes, one of which must be Intermediate Pointe.

  • A minimum of two additional classes of any style per week

For Advanced students: A commitment to a full course load of classes (7), to include:

  • A mandatory minimum of 5 Advanced ballet classes, one of which must be Advanced Pointe.

  • A minimum of two additional classes in ballet or any other dance style per week

  • One Core Conditioning and Stretch class

For ALL DANCERS:

  • Consistent attendance to the above-mentioned classes and Company rehearsals will be closely monitored. Students missing classes or rehearsals consistently, or who are tardy will be asked to leave the Pre-Professional Company Program.

  • Commitment to support, attend, and participate in NDT Pre-Professional Company fundraising events and performances.

  • Proper attire, attitude and attention in class.

  • Pre-Professional Company annual fee for each dancer is $400 . This company fee is in addition to class tuition pricing.

  • The NDT Company Fee is NOT inclusive of the Nutcracker participation fees or YAGP Participation fees. Those are separate charges.

As a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, the Nunnbetter Dance Theatre Company hosts fundraisers throughout the year to support the expenses affiliated with the company productions. All donations are tax exempt as allowed by law.
